Who is Dr. Anupama?
I am Dr. Anupama M K, Anesthetist and Pain Physician, a medical professional and academician currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at HIMS. Along with my clinical and teaching responsibilities, I hold an MBA in Health and Hospital Administration, which has enabled me to contribute effectively to healthcare management and quality improvement initiatives.
During the years 2021 and 2022, I served as the COVID Nodal Officer for Hassan District under the Department of Health and Family Welfare, where I was actively involved in coordinating pandemic response, administrative planning and public health management during one of the most challenging periods in healthcare.
As the Administrative Medical Officer at CHC Dudda, I led the team to achieve significant milestones, including NQAS (National Quality Assurance Standards) Certification in 2022–2023 and the Kayakalpa Award with a 92% score in 2023, reflecting excellence in cleanliness, hygiene, and patient safety. I was also felicitated for initiating the first organ retrieval from a brain stem dead patient at HIMS, an experience that reinforced my commitment to ethical medical practice and organ donation awareness.
In recognition of my contributions to healthcare and public service, I was honored with the “Swathantrotsava” Award by the District Administration in 2024. Beyond my professional responsibilities, I am an active Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Hassan Mains for the past five years and currently serve as the President of Ann’s Club Rotary for 2024, through which I actively participate in community development and social service initiatives.
I strongly believe in delivering compassionate, quality healthcare while contributing to system strengthening and community well-being, and I continue to strive toward excellence in both my professional and social roles.
