Vishvam Foundation successfully organized an enriching educational program titled “The Amazing World of Birds” at Government School, Kuvempu Nagar, Hassan. The primary objective of the program was to create awareness among school students about birds, nature, and environmental conservation, while fostering curiosity and respect for biodiversity.

The session was conducted by Ms. Divyashree, a passionate and experienced Nature Guide, who captivated the students with her engaging and interactive teaching style. She began the program by introducing the fascinating world of birds, explaining their importance in maintaining ecological balance. Students learned about various bird species, their physical features, nesting habits, migration patterns, and food preferences in a simple and relatable manner.

One of the most exciting parts of the session was “Have You Heard This Bird?”, where Ms. Divyashree played different bird calls and encouraged students to identify the birds based on sound. The children participated enthusiastically, raising their hands and sharing their guesses, which created an energetic and joyful learning atmosphere.

She then explained the concept of birdwatching, highlighting how observing birds can be both a hobby and a scientific activity. She demonstrated basic birdwatching techniques such as maintaining silence, observing from a distance, using binoculars, and recording observations. She also stressed the importance of ethical birdwatching and respecting wildlife without disturbing their natural habitat.

To encourage creativity, students took part in an activity called “Draw Your Favorite Bird.” They drew colorful pictures of parrots, peacocks, sparrows, owls, and many more birds. This activity allowed students to express their creativity while strengthening their understanding of bird species.

A lunch break was provided, during which students interacted freely, shared food, and discussed what they had learned. This break helped create a friendly bond between students and the nature guide. After lunch, she spoke about simple steps students can take to protect birds in their daily lives. She encouraged them to plant trees, place water bowls for birds during summer, avoid plastic usage, and spread awareness among their families and friends. She also shared real-life field experiences, which inspired students to care more deeply about nature.

Teachers and school authorities appreciated Vishvam Foundation for organizing such a meaningful initiative. They emphasized the importance of environmental education and thanked the organization for providing students with hands-on learning beyond textbooks.
The program concluded with a feedback session where students shared their learnings and excitement. Their enthusiasm and curiosity reflected the success of the event.

Overall, “The Amazing World of Birds” program was a memorable and impactful experience that nurtured a love for nature and encouraged young minds to become responsible environmental citizens. Vishvam Foundation continues to remain committed to organizing such awareness programs for the betterment of society
