Women’s health is the foundation of a healthy family and a strong society. Recognizing the urgent need for awareness, prevention, and accessible healthcare, Vishvam Foundation successfully organized the Women’s Health Awareness & Cervical Cancer Prevention Programme on 19th April 2025 at Nandagokula Convention Centre, Hassan. The programme was a meaningful initiative aimed at educating, empowering, and encouraging women to take charge of their health with confidence and knowledge. The event witnessed an overwhelming response from the community, with over 300 women participants, supported by more than 20 medical professionals and 20 dedicated volunteers. The atmosphere was filled with curiosity, openness, and a strong desire to learn, making the programme both impactful and inspiring.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Dr. Rangalakshmi, Dr. Vishalakshi, Dr. Chaitra Gowda, and Mr. Manjegowda in the presence of healthcare professionals and community leaders. Their presence emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in addressing women’s health issues, particularly cervical cancer, which is largely preventable through awareness, vaccination, and early screening.

The event featured a series of informative and engaging sessions delivered by experienced medical experts. Dr. Rangalakshmi, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, delivered a comprehensive session on cervical cancer awareness. She explained the causes, risk factors, symptoms, and preventive measures in a simple and relatable manner, highlighting the importance of regular screening and early detection in saving lives. Dr. Vishalakshi B.A., Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, spoke on understanding menopause. Her session addressed the physical, emotional, and psychological changes women experience during menopause and provided practical guidance on managing symptoms through lifestyle modifications and medical support. Dr. Chaitra Gowda, Senior Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Cloudnine Hospital, Bengaluru, delivered an insightful talk on nutrition for women’s health. She emphasized the role of balanced nutrition, healthy habits, and preventive care in maintaining long-term physical and mental wellbeing.

Each session was followed by interactive question-and-answer discussions where participants openly shared their concerns and received expert guidance directly from the doctors. This interaction created a safe and supportive environment, encouraging women to seek clarity and break long-standing health-related taboos.

One of the major highlights of the programme was the HPV Vaccination Camp organized to promote preventive healthcare. With the support of Vishvam Foundation, GARDASIL vaccines were provided to approximately 25 women at a highly subsidized rate of ₹1500. Along with vaccination, participants were educated about the importance of early HPV vaccination in preventing cervical cancer, reinforcing the message that prevention is both possible and powerful.

Adding a holistic dimension to the programme, a yoga session was conducted by Mrs. Sushma Kattaya. The session focused on yogic practices beneficial for gynecological health, stress management, flexibility, and mental wellbeing. Participants actively engaged in the session and appreciated the practical approach to integrating yoga into daily life for long-term health benefits.

The smooth execution of the programme was made possible by the commitment and teamwork of dedicated volunteers. From registration and coordination to guiding participants and managing logistics, the volunteers played a vital role throughout the event. As a gesture of appreciation, prizes were distributed to the volunteers, acknowledging their valuable contribution and service.

During the event, two laptops were donated to Vishvam Foundation, enhancing the organization’s capacity to manage digital records, documentation, and community outreach more effectively. This support marked an important step toward strengthening the foundation’s operational and technical capabilities.

The Women’s Health Awareness & Cervical Cancer Prevention Programme successfully created awareness about cervical cancer, encouraged preventive healthcare through vaccination, and promoted holistic wellbeing through nutrition and yoga. More importantly, it empowered women with knowledge, confidence, and access to expert guidance. The enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from the community highlighted the growing need for such initiatives. Vishvam Foundation remains committed to continuing its mission by organizing more health awareness programmes and outreach activities, ensuring that women receive the information, care, and support they deserve. Together, through awareness and action, we move closer to a healthier and more empowered society.
