Ms. Tanuja Gurunath, an MBBS student pursuing her medical education in Russia and a native of Bagalkote, conducted an informative and motivating mental health awareness session at Kuvempu Nagar Government School, Hassan. The program was organized to spread awareness among students about the significance of mental wellbeing and to help them understand their emotions and manage stress in a healthy manner.

During her interaction, she discussed various mental health issues commonly faced by students, such as academic burden, examination anxiety, peer pressure, lack of self-confidence, and emotional instability. She explained these concerns in a simple and friendly way, helping students realize that such challenges are common and can be handled with the right approach. She strongly conveyed that mental health deserves the same importance as physical health.

She shared effective methods to deal with stress and anxiety, including proper time management, following a balanced routine, practicing self-care, participating in physical activities, and seeking guidance from parents, teachers, or friends when required. She also spoke about the power of positive thinking, self-confidence, and resilience in overcoming life’s difficulties. Her own experiences as a medical student made the session more relatable and inspiring for the students.

The session was highly interactive, giving students the opportunity to openly ask questions and express their thoughts. She patiently listened and responded to their queries, creating a comfortable and encouraging atmosphere where students felt safe to talk about mental health without hesitation.

She also educated students about identifying early warning signs of mental distress and stressed the importance of approaching professionals for help when needed. By clearing common misconceptions about mental health, she helped students understand that seeking support is a courageous step, not a weakness.

Both students and teachers appreciated the session for its positive impact. It helped in spreading awareness, boosting students’ confidence, and motivating them to take better care of their emotional wellbeing. The program contributed significantly to building a supportive and understanding school environment.

Overall, the mental health awareness talk delivered by Ms. Tanuja Gurunath at Kuvempu Nagar Government School, Hassan, was a meaningful initiative that encouraged students to prioritize their mental health, develop healthy coping strategies, and cultivate a positive mindset for a better future.
